Bill: WMD Ban Act of 2356
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Party of Dorvik
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2357
Description[?]:
The firm stance of the Moderates is that the Weapons of Mass Destruction are great threat for world peace. Greed for global, aggressive power and influence leads to excessive armamenting, regional instability and lack of trust between nations and also huge financial expenses. Dorvik must act as bridge builder at world politics, not as a thug and promoting peaceful & secure solutions belongs to interests of all truly democratic & peaceful nations. We must set an example for other countries in Terra by banning WMDs from our part and even start negotiations for international disarmamenting of WMD capabilities. * Walther Clark, Senator and Chairman of the MPD |

Message | The Artanian Alliance would be there to protect our independency though we also need capable, high-quality armed forces too. Especially now as Accord des National Amicales alliance is going to sign a non-aggression & cooperation pact with the Axis. WMD's however isn't the way to go. |

Message | We cannot rely on alliances to protect us. The only people we can truly trust our ourselves first, others second. |

Message | Name one example in history where one nation has disarmed and others have followed. |

Message | It's true that our people is the first line in defending this fine country but we cannot match superior forces of the Axis alliance ourselves, especially as DCMLU has decided catastrophicly to cut down the defence budget to 1/3 at once: we need allies. Strange how GC(VU) is worried about promoting peace and showing credible example for other nations at Terra by banning WMD's but not about the huge budget cut of the armed forces. The WMD's wouldn't be taken out from use immediately as it would be irresponsible, but phased out in five years time table taking out chemical ones first, then biological and finally nuclear weapons which would be destroyed by government authorities and/or converted (if possible) for the use of civil sector. OOC: Comparison between the real world and Terra shouldn't been never used, these are two completely different worlds. Furthermore, I don't know the history of Terra and its nations almost at all though so I can't give arguments about it. |

Message | Do you have any idea the dost it takes to dismantle nuclear weapons? We can't just leave radioactive material around for terrorists! |
Date | 12:55:30, February 09, 2007 CET | From | Democratic Party of Dorvik | To | Debating the WMD Ban Act of 2356 |
Message | The Union of Public Employees should know it better that radioactive material can and will be fully used for civil sector nuclear power plants which make majority of our nation's energy production, and it surely is far more cheaper to dismantle WMD facilities than maintaining them. |

Message | Ah, but does the Moderate Party know that it takes time and money to dismantle nuclear bombs? And it is cheaper to maintain WMD facilities for a period of time than to dismantle them. With that logic, the cost of overall maintenance over a century would mean any government building would be cheaper to dismantle then maintain, and we cannot allow that. And does the Moderate Party know the process that is involved to convert uranium cores to civilian use would be a costly one? We know about government reports, we write them or at least know the people who do. And radioactive material like Bismuth, used as a anti-diarrheal, can't be used in nuclear reactors. |
