Bill: Budget Cut Act 2358

Details

Submitted by[?]: Capitalizt Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2365

Description[?]:

In order to sustain the proposed tax cuts, our opinion is to cut subsidies for Industry, Agriculture and Environment, as well as economically redundant (why would a department like Foreign Affairs need so much money?) sectors like Foreign and Internal Affairs, leaving untouched the other sectors and slightly raising the Education.

MessageAs internal affairs operate internal security (such as police) the operational requirements to operate throughout the Country is vast and, as such, equates to current spending.
Foreign Affairs operates all foreign consulates and embassies in all Countries and is required to pay their staff, as well as assisting Hobrazian nationals who require assistance whilst abroad. It also deals with any and all foreign dealings between this Country and others, as well as paying for the foreign minister and said department.
Environmental spending is high in order to maintain our current environment and wildlife, as well as surrounding environs.
Trade and Industry is directly related to current operating procedures and though we can see reason to reduce expenditure we believe that the level proposed by the CP is too great.

MessageWe can accept greater cuts in industry as there a few state owned comapnies, we also believe that some foreign affairs budget could be cut maybe greater than this. The environment budget can also be cut bt the other sectors should be left, please take this into account if you wish our party to vote yes.

MessageThe tax payers are FED UP! They are tired of having their money arbitrarily TAKEN from them against their will! Deep sustained cuts are needed in order to ensure freedom of the individual prevails.

MessageHave you given any thought to who provides services that give the people education, health, transport, roads and the security that the people now enjoy, these major cuts in some sectors threaten that i i feel the people would accept the current spending in the name of their protection and quality of life, People are left with sufficent disposable income to make their lives great. We are one of the most advanced and wealthiest countries in all of Terra, the nation had fantastic services whilst we can see room for cuts in the budget we cannot accept huge cuts in matters such as security, this is the stumbling block we have with this bill.

MessageWhile some people are quite content with spending other peoples money, it doesn't change the fact that a strong minority of citizens are not consenting and that their rights are being trampled on. End the dictatorship!

MessageThis is the same dictatorship that routinely cuts taxes. This is the same dictatorship that holds frequent free elections.
The facts are that maintaining public services a dictatorship does not make and if the Liberal Party could see past their blinkered view on so called "freedom" then they might realise that the duty of government is to provide for all of the people, not just a minority of "angry" people with megaphones.

MessageWe take issue with the notion that "the duty of government is to provide for all of the people"

Our stance is that the gov't isn't a provider at all.

MessageSo you wouldn't have the government make provision for defence or security? Whether the LP like it or not, they are provisions.

MessageOur position is that the only role of gov't is the defense of liberty, from within and without, essentially the defense of the individual. What you propose goes far beyond that.

Random quote: "Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people." - Tenche Coxe
