Bill: Industrial Relations Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Pensioners' Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2359

Description[?]:

Aloria's industrial relations laws could be fairer. A strike should be a worker's last resort, and for this reason secondary industrial action (i.e. strikes which do not involve a direct dispute with the employer) is unreasonable. For the same reason, a majority of all the workforce should be needed before a strike can go ahead, not just a majority of those who take part in the ballot. At the same time, our law should give striking workers a greater degree of protection from unscrupulous employers.

This legislation is honourable and fair, and deserves the support of the National Assembly.

Abraham Bridgewater
(Leader of the Pensioners' Party)

Random fact: RP laws follow the same passing rules as in-game variable laws. Laws that are not of a constitutional nature require a simple majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. Laws that are of a constitutional nature require a 2/3 majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. RP laws may be abolished a simple majority vote this applies to ANY RP law.

Random quote: "Rifles, muskets, long-bows and hand-grenades are inherently democratic weapons. A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon so long as there is no answer to it gives claws to the weak." - George Orwell
