Bill: Military Reformation Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2360

Description[?]:

This bill would change the existing law from:

1) All adults upon completion of schooling must serve a term in the military.
To: There shall be no mandatory military or civilian national service.

First off, we must consider civil liberties. There are many who bitterly hate war. There are many who have something against serving in the military because of their religion. The people of our nation are too diverse to have the federal government decide as to what is their fate.

Instead of mandatory service, the government could offer tax cuts, and other benefits to those who choose to aid their country by means of force.

Third and last of all. Shouldn't it be the decision of the citizen in our nation to choose whether they believe in a war and wish to serve in it? Forcing the people to serve in the military is not a democratic way to rule people, it more represents tyranny.

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically
