Details
Submitted by[?]: Jakanian Liberal Socialists
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2360
Description[?]:
This act seeks to make euthanasia a legal and recognised form of medical treatment. However, considering its serious and non-reversable consequences, it requires the patient to, in sound state of mind, make personal consent to the act, either at the time of the act or prior to it, as in the form of a living will. It also requires their treating doctor to acknowledge that, in their opinion, the patient is/was of sound state of mind when making their decision. The doctor must also agree with the patient that the act is in their best interests. Finally, the process requires a second opinion from another doctor not involved with the treatment of the patient. The treating doctor may pass on their obligation to make the decision to another medical doctor should they feel unable. This act also establishes a Medical Ethics Board, alongside the JPHS. This board will be elected half of practicing doctors and half of members of the public, and will be responsable for issuing guidelines to doctors relating to ethical issues. |
