Message | There is a large amount of dispute in the ALSP regarding this bill as several key members oppose it. However there is enough support for the bill in the ALSP for us to give it our support, this solution is however not ideal. We might revise it later. |

Message | The True Conservative Party is fervently opposed to this bill; in particular, Article 1. Under absolutely no circumstance must cannabis or any other illicit drug be legalised. The True Conservative Party believes that legalising marijuana would almost immediately increase the nation's crime rate dramatically, including gang warfare, drug related disputes and homocide, and even drug induced crime. This action will also increase unemployment dramatically and this will ultimately lead to more taxes for the increased dependance of the state on welfare. The rates of marijuana induced skitzophrenia will also dramatically increase, as will the rates of marijuana overdose related casualties. The True Conservative Party believes that this is a rediculous proposal, and that under no circumstance should any illicit drug be made legal. The True Conservative Party cannot fathom that any political party, no matter how liberal, could be so blind to the obvious flaws in this idea, as well as its blatant immorality. The True Conservative Party also disagrees with Article 2, but to a much lesser extent. The True Conservative Party believes that there is absolutely no need for government intervention in sports, and that the government has no business in this area. Allowing Article 2 to pass would mean increased taxes, again, because the government would inevitably need to fund all of the teams\players\coaches salaries, as well as venues for the clubs, on tax dollars. The True Conservative Party sees this as a violation of tax payer's individuality - why should thousands upon thousands of people pay taxes to go towards the government's funding of this entertainment? This question is particularly relevant for members of the community who may never once in their life visit a sporting event or even watch sport on television. The True Conservative Party believes that sport should be left to the private sector, and should in no way involve the government or tax payers. This bill would simply result in a great deal more government intervention, and heavily increased taxation. |
