Bill: Abortion Law 2363
Details

Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2363
Description[?]:
In these modern times in which everything seems to be allowed or possible, we have noticed that people are becoming less able to judge the value of life. We have noticed an increase in the amount of abortions conducted, an increasing percentage of it being conducted without a medical reason. We have also noticed that the defects for which women have their pregnancies aborted are less and less grave. We are afraid that even defects as a harelip (which is reparable) will become a reason to abort pregnancies. Should even babies have to conform to beauty ideals? We therefore want the law to determine what a medical emergency is and make that a condition for abortion. |

Message | That's indeed an interesting question. Is an unborn baby already human. Is is "only" the possibility of becoming a human being? Is it less worth then? Except the fact that abortions won't actually stop when prohibited, it will go on illegally, such a decision must be made by the individual, nobody should be forced to keep a baby or not. An abortion is more human than the education of an unwanted child...Well, that's our point of view (the current is what we want, in addition we are for special money for poor and large families. ) |

Message | Of course there are reasons for abortion, such as rape and medical emergency, but if an unwanted pregnancy results from voluntary sex, it is the responsibility of the parents themselves. You can say that they should not keep the child then, but I would call that walking away from responsibility. Besides, the state can support teenage mothers by introducing special care programs. In short, the unborn child should not have to die as a result of the mistake of the parents. About teenage pregnancies: most of the time abortion is not a free choice, as teenage mothers are too young to take care of children themselves. This, however, does not warrant abortion, but good facilities for teenage parents, which makes this proposal a decent one, especially when you have the child's right to live in mind. An unborn child has rights too. Preventing rape also helps, which warrants a tough stance on crime. |
