Bill: Budget proposal of March 2363

Details

Submitted by[?]: Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry'

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2363

Description[?]:

As discussed 18 months ago.

(*Justice and Internal Affairs do not require as much as we throw at them. Our laws are clear cut, and our police forces carrying equipment of military grade, factored into the Defence budget.

*It does not take 2 billion PON to count beans and collect them from people. With reduced taxation proposed in a separate bill, this could safely be quartered.

*Transport, as much as the funding policy is devolved, is more likely to be "user pays" with such a laissez-faire minded population as other options would cause voter backlash against the proposing parties. We could afford this cut.

*Education and Culture, Food and Agriculture, Trade and Industry: These are all privatised fields. I dread to think where half of this money is going as at least half of each pot is not really needed in such a deregulation nation such as our own. As for trade and industry, there is not enough regulation to warrant this generous over-funding. Does it take 1 billion PON to operate next to nothing? The Bastards seek to remedy this drastic waste.

*A cut in Environment and Tourism to 1,000,000,000 PON (500m reduction) and in Health and Social Services (mostly privatised anyway) to 300,000,000 PON (500m reduction), along with the redirection of 5billion PON from Science and Technology to focus explicitly on weapon purchases and development.)
