Bill: Leaving No Child Behind - For Real

Details

Submitted by[?]: AM Populist Social Democrats

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2365

Description[?]:

Whereas, The removal of free nurseries has led to spouses unable to bring their families out of poverty by working, as they would gain little by working beyond the cost of private nurseries, the private nurseries regulated only so as to be sure no employees are pedophiles or otherwise abusive, or even just highly unqualified, and

Whereas, The for-profit private schools now allowed deprive students of equal opportunity,

We hereby propose to return to having publically owned nurseries alongside private establishments, and to having nothing but free elementary and high schools, with charter schools providing an alternative for those who dislike the public school system-- those still being free and thus equally accessible to all income classes.

This way, to the extent possible, whatever inequality exists is based on merit, and not having wealthy parents that can afford to send you to an elite school.

MessageDidn't know my change policy managed to get passed!

Either way, if the parties here voted for change, why would you make this dramatic turn-around just before the election when the balance of power is likely to shift.

MessageBecause it is unclear in which direction the balance of power will shift? Existing left of center parties, including our own, will most likely lose seats individually; but that is due to the existence of more left-of-center parties.

Additionally, we see at the very least the nurseries part of the bill as an urgent emergency that we must pass as soon as possible and fight hard to protect.

MessageOh, this is wonderful. We'd have liked to seen a slightly more emphatic proposal on pre-school education, but we thoroughly endorse the spirit of this legislation.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life fictional references (eg. Gandalf, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker).

Random quote: "I am a conservative to preserve all that is good in our constitution, a radical to remove all that is bad. I seek to preserve property and to respect order, and I equally decry the appeal to the passions of the many or the prejudices of the few." - Benjamin Disraeli
