Bill: A Call for Respect and Civility in Public Discourse
Details
Submitted by[?]: Scientific Libertarian Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2365
Description[?]:
Recently, we have here at the Secularist Libertarian Party have observed a great deal of open hostility in debate. We will not name specific parties, but name-calling, ad hominem attacks, and other such negative things serve only to lower the level of debate in the country. We would appreciate an honest attempt to end this open hostility, and suggest that all the parties remember that just because somebody disagrees with you does not mean that they are wrong. |

Message | Incidentally, we also accept the UDA's previously offered apology, and offer an apology of our own for any slights real or percieved. I'm pretty sure I haven't ever intended to offend anybody (except possibly one time), but this being the internet and my particular brand of humour being both dry and abrasive, I'm sure a great deal of offense has been taken. Possibly without me even noticing. |

Message | The Liberal Democratic Party supports this bill whole-heartedly. We understand why it was written and agree with it. We apologize for what we have expressed. We were angered by little probable reason to vote down our bill given by the opposition. This is the internet, so it doesn't seem as bad when you write something due to the fact you simply don't have to say it. We express discontent for what we stated that was provokative and unnecessary. We have seen an awful lot of bickering, useless fighting, and potentially offensive material that is uncalled for. And we will say this: it happened a lot earlier than what has been most recent. However, we don't feel a need to vote on this unless this Resolution is written in bill form in the Bill Description. Due to the fact this bill doesn't state any guidelines what-so-ever, we will not vote on this right away. However, in time we will vote because we absolutely dislike abstaining. |
