Message | Which parties would support this? To the parties that don't support this, would you support the bill if both public and private sector communities could set up gated communities? |
Date | 22:08:45, February 26, 2007 CET | From | AM Radical Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Gated Communities Bill |
Message | We would support either this or allowing both public and private, but would prefer this bill. |
Date | 01:26:38, February 27, 2007 CET | From | AM Populist Social Democrats | To | Debating the Gated Communities Bill |
Message | We removed the allowance for gated communities, with support from other parties, because we believe they tend to lead to racial and socioeconomic segregation. |
Date | 01:47:52, February 27, 2007 CET | From | Civil Liberties Party | To | Debating the Gated Communities Bill |
Message | As the PLPL stated, gated communities only strengthen segregation and tension between people. |
Date | 01:51:18, February 27, 2007 CET | From | Likaton Coalition of the Willing | To | Debating the Gated Communities Bill |
Message | The LITP at this time feel that there is a need for further research on the impact of Gated communities. Perhaps the ConLibs could provide data on the benefits? We would currently not support this Bill, but could be persuaded otherwise... |

Message | We disagree with the Civil Liberties and PLPL representatives. The problems is that - historically - market forces and nepotism have been allowed to establish gated communities. Thus - when private, they become havens for the rich, and when public, they become fortresses for the friends of the bureaucracy. On the other hand - if gated communities were established on a not-for-profit, and completely transparent basis, the 'ghetto' phenomena usually associated with them could be avoided. |
Date | 09:04:06, February 27, 2007 CET | From | AM Populist Social Democrats | To | Debating the Gated Communities Bill |
Message | How would one do that unless either only the government could set them up or the government's approval were required on a case by case basis? |
Date | 12:19:36, February 28, 2007 CET | From | Democratic National Party | To | Debating the Gated Communities Bill |
Message | If people spend a large amount of money buying luxury apartments, why cna't they be gated to provide them with security? Why can't they protect their assests. |

Message | The Conservative Liberal Party hit the nail on the head... by allowing a law that creates ONLY gated communities for the private sector, one creates a far more focused tiering of the populace. Gone is the ability to intermix, instead, creating isolated islands of the very wealthy with a deliberate exclusionist policy. What we need are PLANNED communities, that do not isolate and exclude, but that allow for cross-sectional populations. It is the only way we will reduce tensions. |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
