Bill: The Service Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: removed

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2037

Description[?]:

In order to foster a greater sense of community among our youth, we propose that all citizens must perform 2 years service to the state between the ages of 16 and 25. This need not be military service, it may be labour service such as assisting professionals in forestry or mapping concerns, aiding forest firefighters and the like. Alternatively, the service could be provided outside of our country to aid humanitarian concerns and to illustrate our commitment to the global community.

MessageWhile we agree with the ideals of this Act, the PPOL feels that compulsury service creates a sub-standard force, in any field, and thus it tends to be more economicaly viable to hire a force if it is so needed.

MessageThe Socialist Party disagrees because iot is unclear what the reward would. We fear these people may be having lower wages which we would strongly protest.
