Bill: An end to the golden handshake
Details
Submitted by[?]: AM Populist Social Democrats
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2367
Description[?]:
Whereas, the previous budget proposal passed despite the opposition of parties we thought we had compromised with by allowing their corporate welfare/golden handshake expenditures, We hope in this proposal to eliminate golden handshake funds, leaving only those funds in Trade and Industry needed for other purposes. If it fails, we are no worse off for trying. |

Message | This bill is an outrage. The PopLibs are just taking a political dig at this party, nothing more. |

Message | We like this. It is not perfect, but it is less of an insult to The People of Likatonia than the current 'gift to big business'. |

Message | We absolutely want to state that this is not a political dig at the ConLibs. It is what we see as a saner use of budgetary resources, using resources to help the people rather than the powerful. Note we actually increased (a little) infrastructure spending, as there is value to all Likatonians in having a top-level infrastructure; but we see no value in corporate welfare. This includes not only more funding for social and educational spending (keeping education-- and an educated populace also attracts business-- the top-funded department in the budget), but increases law enforcement (internal affairs and justice), especially important because local governments are not allowed to have their own police forces, as well as science and technology development, all of which are good for the populace but outside of the social spending increases also make Likatonia a better place for businesses to locate. |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
Random quote: Although I understand and respect the intentions behind the gesture, this is not something that is universally understood or appreciated, and it tends to give out a negative impression of our party. ~ Anton Weinreich, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party, pleading with his members to stop burning the national flag |
