Bill: Diversity and De-Centralisation

Details

Submitted by[?]: National People's Gang

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2085

Description[?]:

Centralisation breeds ever more centralisation and it is all too easy for legislators to lose sight of the diversity which is Lodamun's strength. To counteract this tendency it is necessary to reaffirm our belief in localness as the foundation stone of our democracy.

MessageWe have no objection to this, apart from the erosion of the Lodamun identity that will ensue. However as Lodamun does not have a clearly unified identity as evidenced by our lack of a national anthem, our trivial motto, and our archaic sport, this is not a major drawback.

MessageMay I ask why the Adam Smith Party has voted against this bill, despite claiming that they had no serious objections?

MessageSorry. we had posted our reasons, and then voted, which eliminated our post.

That we have no objections to a change, does not justify changing the constitution. In addition, if the proposer can not be bothered to correct the typos in the wording of the bill, we do not see why we should support having typos in our constitution.

The main reason though, is that we see no benefit from these changes, and change, just for the sake of change is not a good policy.
