Message | Isn't information about what is occurring and taking place in society what the commercial news stations are for? Right, the news stations that like to focus on endless coverage of the latest celebrity's new hairstyle or whatever. Well, if the commercial news outlets don't provide actual news, then the Jakanian people probably don't care about it. And if they don't care about it, why should we waste government money providing it to them? And if they want educational programming, they should demand it from the regular TV/radio stations, who will then be able to provide it because they won't be trying to compete with subsidised stations. And in the unlikely event that that doesn't work, well, if there's nothing good on then maybe parents will send their kids outside to play, or better yet, send them to play on the computer, instead of vegetating passively in front of a television. But I don't actually have that much animosity towards the television, because all of the flaws of TV are also apparent in books, which I love. |
