Message | The AMLITP are concerned as to how accurate it is to say that we are a Republic... |
Date | 09:57:15, March 05, 2007 CET | From | AM Populist Social Democrats | To | Debating the Compromise name change proposal |
Message | How so? A Republic is a representative democracy. We wonder how you feel we fail to fit that description. |

Message | Is AM Likaton Theocracy of Termani out of the question ? We will support the compromise in the interests of Axis Mundi unity. |

Message | As a point of interest, should the Tears of Termani manage to regain dominance in Likatonian politics (saints preserve us), Axis Mundi Revolution has no real problem with the nation being called "AM Likaton Theocracy of Termani" - after all, calling a spade a shovel doesn't make it a shovel. (By which we mean, if the name fits, we don't really see the point in opposing it for 'aesthetic' reasons). Axis Mundi Revolution has never been sure that 'republic' is the exact right term for Likatonia - 'republics' usually have stipulations like 'one must be a 'land owner' to vote'. Given that we are not sure how these issues apply in Likatonia (we are under the impression that every citizen votes), we are not sure how accurate the title is. We won't oppose it in the case of this 'goodwill' legislation, but it is an issue that might need to be analysed. |

Message | We're not too sure if we will support. It is a step in the right direction. We just don't want to seal the coffin on our democratic process by installing Axis Mundi in the name for good. There is some discontent between the AM parties at the moment. the ConLibs are not going to surrender ourselves to Axis Mundi. At the moment, we will probably vote against this bill. |

Message | We would always oppose "Theocracy" in the name, hating religion as we do. However, for the question of whether Republic is appropriate, we could call ourselves the "AM Democratic Commonwealth of Likatonia". |

Message | Ooooh, we like commonwealth. Terra doesn't have nearly enough 'commonwealths'. |

Message | Commonwealth is acceptable to us also, at this stage. |

Message | Okay, we think we shall put this to a vote now. |
Date | 17:20:35, March 06, 2007 CET | From | Democratic National Party | To | Debating the Compromise name change proposal |
Message | Voting against. We call on all democrats to vote against this bill as even though the name change is a step in the right direction, if this bill is passed, the Axis Mundi name will be installed forever. |
Date | 22:41:48, March 06, 2007 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Compromise name change proposal |
Message | We wonder why AM LITP opposed? We shall support, in the name of compromise. |
Date | 22:58:47, March 06, 2007 CET | From | AM Populist Social Democrats | To | Debating the Compromise name change proposal |
Message | We will say this: It requires 2/3 to change the name. Non-AM parties will not have 2/3 anytime in the foreseeable future. We had been willing to vote for a name without AM or Axis Mundi in it before, but since it is non-AM parties unwilling to compromise, we will not now. We believe the same is true for the other AM parties. So, if non-AM parties will vote down compromises, we'll be deadlocked into keeping the name we have. |
Date | 23:20:37, March 06, 2007 CET | From | Commonwealth Workers Army | To | Debating the Compromise name change proposal |
Message | Unfortunately, it seems that, perhaps, the AM Populist Social Democrats may be right. It seems that there can be no compromise while this discrimination against the Axis Mundi exists in this nation. We in the AMR shall still insist on attempting to compromise, affirming our moral high-ground to the citizens of this nation. |
