Bill: National Chemical and Biological Weapons Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Imperialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2372

Description[?]:

Our biotechnology industry would benefit substantially from the kind of spin-offs made possible by conducting research on biological weapons. Furthermore, research will enable Telamon to better develop antidotes and other means by which to minimize the damage from a biological or chemical weapon attack.

Secondly, we should, for the purposes of deterrence, be willing to respond in kind to foreign chemical/biological attacks.

MessageIf article 1 is to be used as a defence to minimise any harm that may be caused in a biological/chemical attack then we would support. But I cannot support article 2.

MessageWMDs are a messy business. We feel their use is never justifiable, so cannot support article 2. Were you to resubmit only article 1, however...
