MessageOf course, conservative economics again-- defund the government by letting the lucky few avoid paying taxes, and tax poor people now exempt from taxation. Fortunately, we believe Likatonians are enlightened enough to punish any parties who back this.

MessageHehe...if the AMRLP were still active to split the votes of the economic far right with the ConLibs, the ConLibs would be no bigger than the current size of the AMPSD's.

Meanwhile, the SSP, AMR, AM Reform party, and the former LITP have supported our recent tax bills and done quite well.

MessageThe socialists and LRM have benefited from the demise of the Libertarians, because they all backed previous economic bills proposed by this party. You'll notice that these tax rates were backed and installed previously, before the LRM flipp-flopped.

MessageThe AMELIP have always campaigned on a platform of higher taxation at point of sale, but lower income tax. We must have both to balance the budget, or neither.

MessageWe would also note that our party and the AMELIP have long agreed on those two points-- along with significant corporate taxation-- and the AMELIP has also supported strongly progressive taxes. We introduced an income tax bill last term, for which the AMELIP voted but stated that they preferred even lower middle class rates in return for higher rates on the uber-rich.

We then complied and offered a bill to do exactly that.

When we have differed with the AMELIP, it has been on how much revenue is necessary-- we would like more than we have-- but they have always been on our side, and us on theirs, about how best to collect it.

Messagethe legislative history of this nation would suggest differently than the fiction which the PSD are trying to sell to this parliament. Of course this isn't the only piece of fiction which that party are trying to sell. Axis Mundi is obviously a dream which will be shattered.

MessageThe only tax-related dispute between the AMELIP and the AMPSD was related to our using all surpluses to increase spending rather than reduce taxes. The AMELIP-- them, not us-- proposed and passed a tax plan with a 50% top rate (and a 66% band that was at a level high enough that no current Likatonian would pay it).

They then supported sales and corporate tax increases, but wanted the money to be used for income tax cuts rather than the additional expenditures that we wanted, leading to an explosion and a short-lived period of anger between our parties.

We now recognize that we can get the progressivity we desire, and more expenditures than the ConLibs want, although we can never get the level of expenditures that we believe are truly necessary-- or, at least that we are unlikely to get AMELIP support for them.

MessageThe AMPSD are correct; in the main we will support similar taxation policies, however there are limits, and when we don't concur, we can vote seperately, and resolve matters that way.

MessageThe LRM and LITP are welcome to vote against this bill, but it is a complete flipp-flopp and the electorate as the records above show. The electorate will punish those parties, as they have punished the PSD's if they do not continue to support the Liberal Tax policies which they have been.

MessageThe AMELIP would happily support the income tax measures, but have specifically stated that we wish to see higher Sales and Corporate taxes. That has been true for many years. Once again, the ConLibs fail to understand simple points. We wish we could dumb things down further for you.

MessageOh, so they once voted for a tax bill of yours-- an income tax cut that they likely wanted to make up for with consumption taxes.

Legislative history reveals a lot of things, such as how the ConLibs were once great lovers of the income tax:

http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=102241

While the ConLibs said they wished to go further in flattening taxes, we find it strange that the rates they felt were at least acceptable then-- enough to sponsor the proposal-- are much higher than those they find horrendous now. Of course, they always loved taxing the poor: 18% on the poorest Likatonians.

MessageThe PopLibs are attempting to manipulate that bill. It was a long time a go and during atime of high taxation. All of the tax rates in that bill you quoted above, were lower tax rates that the rates which wer ein effect at the time. This is not a nutty tax party. This is a sensible tax party. We've lowered taxes so much since our foundation. Quoted what was most likely our first tax bill all those years ago, is really quite irrelevent on the current affairs and does not back up your point of view.

"Oh, so they once voted for a tax bill of yours-- "

No, they twice voted for a tax bill of ours.

MessageThere is no Axis Mundi fiscal agenda. Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei would, personally, vote for 99% taxation. We have seen other AM parties extend their opinions quite the other way.

Obviously there is no overall agenda for AM - on this matter, like all others.

The ConLibs are showing their true colours.

MessageThat's so true. Remember, the AMRLP-- radical libertarians-- were an AM party, and they'd almost certainly vote in favor of this if they were here. Of course, the ConLibs would have many fewer seats than they do if they were, as the AMRLP would have split the ultraconservative economy vote with them.

MessageThe Sturm und Drang faction sincerely hopes our libertarian allies in the AM RLP manage to regain their Convocation standing soon. They are sorely missed.

But, as the AM PSD points out, there is no argument of an overarching AM fiscal agenda - we've had big spenders, big taxers, small spenders, small taxers... pick an end of the spectrum and it ha been represented at some point. The ConLib attacks would be laughable, if it were not for how earnestly they seem to believe them.

Perhaps it is worth appointing Dr Johnson to an quasi-autonomous non-governmental research group to investigate the benefits. Perhaps we may in future introduce it into the Convocation...similar to the complimentary masseuses that were once so popular...
