We would fully support giving immigrants the status of national, so long as they can function within our society. This would mean basic language skills in (a) national language, basic mathematical skills, and survival skills (ability to run a household).

MessageI don;t quite understand this as we already allow citizenship for people who pass a test. That would grant people all the rights associated with it. #Really therefore nationality and citizenship cannot be seperated and so this option is redundant. However if it is to be seperate then it must be done on the basis of birth etc (i.e. one can become a Telamonian citizen but a Telamonian national must mean people who ethnically are from Telamon and so must be born here or to Telamon parents). I don't therefore see any need for changing this option so long as anyone can gain citizenship

MessageHaving looked at the options I now think I see what those who created them have done. Therefore I would support this and propose chaning the citzenship law to make it so that all NATIONALS of Telamon automatically gain CITIZENSHIP, with the test for immigrants being done to gain NATIONALITY and therefore also CITIZENSHIP rahter than at present as the way the options for each proposal are worded it seems to suggest that one can be a NATIONAL of Telamon at present without being a CITIZEN and that therefore to become a CITIZEN everyone immigrant and native alike must pass a tests at the moment. That is silly. So yes keep this option and add to it one chaing the citizenship rules then I will happily support it!!

MessageThe reason for my preference of a test for both is that being born in Telamon does not give you the rights and responsiblities of citizenship. (like being born in... Samoa doesn't give American citizenship) Since we have a bills saying no non-nationals may live in the country they must apply for nationalism (for immigration) and then may apply for citizenship, though I foresee these being done at the same time in all likelyhood. Now, someone born here already has the right to live here but in order to vote etc. they must gain citizenship. I don't believe that birth should give you rights not afforded someone who isn't lucky enough to be born here. What we expect of others we should expect of ourselves.

MessageThat I don't agree with I'm afraid. Those born in Telamon should automatically gain citizenship as well as nationality, as in the real world. For example I was born in Britain, making me a British national and citizen. This is how I think it should be, with immigrants passing a test in order to gain nationality, with citizenship being granted with this. I wasn't aware that there was a bill saying that no non nationals can live in the country as I think they should be allowed to, subject to a quota system (i.e. to ensure they have skills we need etc.)
