Bill: Budgeting for all the new Convocation members
Details
Submitted by[?]: AM Populist Social Democrats
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2374
Description[?]:
We would prefer not to have to propose this budget, as we believe that the major expansions we need to the Convocation building to house double the number of MP's it housed at its peak is completely unnecessary. However, we must accept that the will of the Convocation is to become huge. We have therefore taken out bonds to amortize the expansion over the next ten years, at a total cost of 4 million LIK per year. The additional expenses beyond that added to the HoG budget-- as we knew not where else to put them-- are to cover the salaries of the new members. We may be accused-- accurately-- of often enjoying increasing spending. This is not so in this case, but is unfortunately necessary. |

Message | "Why would we give so much money to a HoG that we don't actually have last time I checked." The money is for expansion of the Convocation building and the ability to pay the salaries of 666 members. We didn't know where else in the budget to place it. It is most definitely not intended as an increase in the HoG salary, whether the HoS remains the HoG or whether he does not. |

Random quote: As for rape, of course, that is a direct consequence of the capitalist system of oppression. Capitalism relies on fuelling division and resentment to sustain itself, and so it sets men against women, race against race and so on. Men rape women because they are being oppressed by capitalism, so they take it out on women. Under Communism, there will be no rape, because there will be a full and natural harmony and equality between the genders. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |
