Message | A word on Article 10: Previous ConLib proposal: "Prisoners of war are treated according to the national laws of the captor power." (in other words, our laws) What did the Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei say about it? "Really, we are dismayed... devolving basic human rights protection for POW's?.. the Conservative Liberals present a real danger to the citizens of this nation....the ConLibs are inhuman monsters. Anyone who would, in all seriousness,...remove protections from POW's...has no regard for human life." Proposal from the Axis Mundi coalition partner of the Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei: "Surrendering enemy combatants are summarily executed." Let's see if the Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei are at the very least, equally critical of their coalition partners as they were of the ConLibs when we proposed a bill far more humane than this one. We won't hold our breath as we know that the Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei can't see passed their hatred for the ConLibs. |

Message | (awaiting the Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei to dodge the issue and go on a rant about the ConLibs) |
Date | 13:20:07, March 15, 2007 CET | From | Likaton Coalition of the Willing | To | Debating the Likaton Reformation Party |
Message | We are entertained that this legislation would be presented, and horrified that it would be drafted in the first place. We cannot support, even in Western Likatonia. |

Message | As the ConLibs suggest, we are horrified at the brutality shown here by some in the AM LRM. We do not sanction, in any way, this platform. |

Message | "shown here by 'some' in the AM LRM" The ConLibs are baffled as to why the Sturm und Drang Partei are so soft on this proposal yet were strenuoulsy against and launched a scathing attack against our party when we proposed that POW's be treated according to Likatonia's Laws. We note the abstaintion of the Sturm und Drang Partei too. |

Message | We are a little more easy-going on the AM LRM because we agree on other issues - which suggests that those areas where we conflict are representative of factionalism within parties. On the other hand, we've pretty much had a history of butting heads with the ConLibs, so we tend to view every platform as a statement of either political positioning, or central ideal. Perhaps it is wrong to act in such a manner. Why certainly find nothing laudable about the ConLib proposal for POW's... but we like the LRM proposal even less. Of course, our refusal to commit votes for or against, is purely political. We have not wished to endorse either the passage or failure of this bill. Having seen the votes cast, we feel we should support the majority. So, we vote against. |
