Bill: CA Freedom to Smoke Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Conservative Alliance
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2376
Description[?]:
There are many in our society who were alive and smoking before smoking was illegalised. This bill would not restore the right to buy cigarettes (vile things) but would allow those who cannot live without them to live their lives and smoke in the comfort of their own homes without fear of the government sending the police around to arrest them. Let's be honest, people are smoking anyway, and surely those who do have the right to do it without fear of arrest and imprisonment? |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards smoking.
Old value:: Smoking is prohibited.
Current: Smoking is prohibited.
Proposed: Smoking is only allowed in private homes and clubs.

Message | Those who already smoke have the damage already done to them - all this bill does is help them live in peace. Note we are not legalising the purchase of cigarettes. |

Message | So then you're forcing smokers to purchase cigarettes through the black market? We're not talking about punishing smokers anymore anyways. Although they no longer have the legal right to pursue their antisocial and deadly habits, we're less concerned with denying them their chosen venue of destruction as we are with stamping out the habit in younger generations. We must use all possible means to destroy the tobacco industry. |

Message | You need to lighten up. Cigarette? |
Date | 08:52:57, March 19, 2007 CET | From | National Fasco-Communist Order | To | Debating the CA Freedom to Smoke Act |
Message | This ban has been in effect for years, I'm pretty sure anyone who's addict to cigarettes at this point started smoking after the ban was put into place. Irregardless, we're opposing for the same reasons as the booze bill (although this doesn't have as much of a historial tradition IMO). |
