Bill: Confidence in the Government
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freeminded People's Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2377
Description[?]:
This Act is a resolution of the National Assembly expressing a lack of confidence in the present Government. The election two years ago returned the governing Coalition with a weak minority of seats and only 45% of the vote. Since then, two new cabinet proposals have failed to be adopted and the governing parties have frequently been on opposite sides of bills. This Government no longer has the authority -- moral, mathematical or otherwise -- to govern this nation. The National Assembly should express, through this resolution, its desire for a new Government to be formed. If a new one is unable to be formed within the next six months, a bill will be brought forward for an early election, pending the approval of the Assembly. |

Message | We agree that a new government needs to be formed and would gladly vote for a proposal which asked for one. Unfortunatly the FPP's wording of the bill as a vote of confidence makes it impossible for us to vote yes. |

Message | The FPP have hit the nail on the head here. We are impressed that they too seem to have a love for this country and will not accept lazy, unpopular governments failing in their task to govern the people. Full support. |

Message | Until the recent cabinet proposal, there has been a Government with a minority of almost 70 seats that cannot get bills passed with any coherence of support. Two other cabinet proposals had failed; the purpose of this bill was for the Assembly to say that, although those potential cabinets had been rejected, the votes were not to be interpreted as an endorsement of the status quo -- we still need & want a new Government. However, a new proposal has been introduced since this bill was tabled that is likely to pass. |
