Bill: Cabinet Proposal of August 2378

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2379

Description[?]:

With the right-minded of our congress finally the majority, we feel that it is time to put a right-wing cabinet into power to ensure the voters of Telamon get what they asked for. Any debate is of course welcome, particularly from those included in the cabinet.

MessageInteresting. This would be the first time in decades that the Left hasn't participated in the cabinet.

We'll be interested in seeing on what path the right takes us, although we hope they will continue to support the Union and will not engage in any radical policy departures.

MessageWe would like the thank the IADP, and at this point salute our colleagues on the left for not taking us too far away from the centre in the opposite direction. However, as this will be a thoroughly coalition cabinet, the CA cannot comment on policy changes that may take place, only that on a personal level it sees only a few to be necessary.

MessageWe're also glad to see that the UCA has been entrusted with the important position as Prime Minister. We have always found them to be extrememly reliable.

MessageThe UCA are far more experienced than any of the other Rightist parties in Telamon and have always shown themselves to be highly competent. It is only right that they, also as the largest rightist party, take the office they deserve,

MessageI would like to have a cabinet that actullay has a specific job to do. With that being said I would like to have Education and Culture instead of Enviroment and Tourism. I think that that is only fair. Sorry if anyone objects to this. But I feel as if I have a lesser role in this majority.

MessageI pledge that I shall do my utmost to ready our defences against those enemies that lurk in the shadows. The enemies of the present have not yet revealed themselves to us, so it is suitable that I am minister of science and technology. So I say, we shall fight them in our laboratories, we shall fight them in the courts of world opinion by building stronger alliances with our neighbours.

MessageHowever, in the interests of equity, I will give up defence, if that would please the Republican Party.

MessageTo the Republicans - you do have the highly important trade and industry position, as well as one more position than everyone else. The CA is proposed to have Education and Culture here because of its commitment to our nation's youth (see the numerous age related bills) and interest in traditional cultural values.

If you still object then I'm sure we can work something out.

OOC: To our newer players, just to clarify - you all know the cabinet has no extra power or parts of the game to play, right? Other than the Foreign Ministry being able to ratify treaties. The others are just (for now) role-play positions.

Message"BOO!!!!"

Especially since us lefties hold three of the four largest parties, this is a sad moment. We'll have to rectify it in three years. Shouldn't be too hard.

MessageJust beware that a right/left compromise cabinet may be appropriate if you lefties get the power to decide again.
