Bill: IP Regional Equality Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Imperialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2379
Description[?]:
We must recognize that in governing this fair land, we must serve many causes. On the one hand, we must represent the people, on the other, however, we must do all that we can to serve national unity. By virtue of their larger population and larger resources, the bigger regions already have a fair deal more political power. As such, surely it is in the national interest, and indeed, in the interest of true equality, that we alter our political system to give smaller regions a bigger voice in government. They will still be outvoted by the larger regions - this bill will simply help small regions survive against what can be the tyranny of the majority. At the very least, it certainly makes little sense to favour the larger regions - as does the status quo - who are already well-represented. |
