Bill: Income tax proposal of February 2383

Details

Submitted by[?]: Freeminded People's Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2383

Description[?]:

A substantial budgetary surplus exists that is not being put to use. Over 100 billion DRA are being taken in & not spent. The solution, the Government feels, is not more needless spending -- in fact, cuts in spending have been proposed -- but instead broadly-based tax reductions. This proposal reduces income taxes by 12%, the maximum possible at the moment without creating a deficit. Hopefully, if the new budgetary proposals are implemented, a further reduction in income taxes will follow.

MessageWe feel that there is always something to spend a surplus on. For instance, an FZL affiliated construction company is busy developing five "Super Chambers" as we speak and I'm sure they'd love to receive a grant to help out with expenses.

MessageWe strongly urge the Golden Capitalists to support this proposal; they may wish for a larger reduction, but for now the choice is between a 25% rate of tax and a 22% rate -- the choice should be an easy one. This cannot pass without their support.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
