Message | A minister stands in the Supreme Council to voice his opposition arguements to the proposed bill, "What are the purposes of articles 4, 7, 10, and 11? Specifically articles 4 and 11, which don't seem to be helpful, but rather an inconvenience to people for the sake of it. Shall we force our children to register their cats and goldfish? Why, other than to be a nuisance to them? Also, article 13, what is the difference between checking identities and "intensive" security checks and "strict border controls"? Are you going to hold all holiday makers for 24 hours before letting them into the country? Take away their belongings before they can come in? Is this bill about oppressing and restricting both our citizens and foreign ones just for the sake of it? To make sure they all act like us, whether they like it or not? If they don't like or do certain things, we'll lock them up? If your arguement was to protect people I could respect that, and while I disagree, no doubt you will argue this for articles 6 and 8 - but articles such as 10 and 11 help no one. They don't protect people from harm, or theft, or exploitation. They're just about forcing people to behave certain ways. This bill reeks of authoritarianism, with the word "morality" draped around it to justify the government growing in size and invading how people live their lives." -Nathaniel Grayde, JLSP Civil Rights Secretary |

Message | "First off, with article four, it is hardly an "inconvenience" seeing as how that when you buy the animal, you would go through the registration right there. With article 11, children should most certainly not be exposed to that kind of thing. Article 7 I dont understand why you oppose, seeing as how you have never given a good reason for doing so. As I have said I believe three times, this party does not fully support article 10, but supporting 12/13 article most certainly means I vote yes. A real life example with article 13, the U.S.A has strict border control and intensive security checks, and most at the airport, it takes about 3 or so hours entering the country and about 2 or so leaving the country. That article helps to better prevent things like the assault on the World Trade Centers on September 11th. "invading how people live there lives" that is a quote taken from the above. This is to help better protect people. As with article 6, what is more important, a persons safety or the freedom of speech |
Date | 02:58:02, April 05, 2007 CET | From | Jakanian Liberal Socialists | To | Debating the "Healing" Act of 2384 |
Message | "My party opposes article 7 because people shouldn't have to wait until 18 to gain adult priviliges, a lot of young people are mentally mature far before the age of 18 and we do them an injustice by continuing to treat them like children, and not letting them make decisions for themselves. Article 11 has nothing to do with children. Whether late at night, adult channels, wherever it's shown, you are illegalising it. "The children!" isn't a valid arguement for a blanket ban. (( I don't like using RL examples where neccessary - but WTC? America's border checks didn't stop those. And how would they have? It's not like they brought the planes and box cutters in from abroad )) As for your closing statement, that arguement of "what's more important, someone's safety or their basic rights?" could be used to justify anything from government CCTVs in people's private homes to illegalisation of kitchen knives. It's unsound and invalid." - Nathaniel Grayde |

Message | Ok, your opinions, and I really dont care seeing as how there are political sanctions against you (note with the america thing though, the border controls didnt get all tight and scary until after) |
Date | 15:05:46, April 05, 2007 CET | From | Scientific Libertarian Party | To | Debating the "Healing" Act of 2384 |
Message | Why are you people so opposed to civil rights? |
Date | 17:32:00, April 05, 2007 CET | From | Republican Party | To | Debating the "Healing" Act of 2384 |
Message | "This bill is excellent. We support everything in it except Articles 9 - 12, since we believe those should all be banned. However, they are being changed minorily in a direction my party agrees with, so our disapproval is near non-existent. It would seem the Liberal Democrats and Republicans are getting together finely. We hope our relations may continue to increase." Republican Party Minority Leader Bill Frist |
Date | 21:33:06, April 05, 2007 CET | From | United Democrats of Jakania | To | Debating the "Healing" Act of 2384 |
Message | We are not opposed to civil rights, we are opposed to people being able to do whatever they want. People should have restrictions to what they do |

Random quote: "The problem is big government. If whoever controls government can impose his way upon you, you have to fight constantly to prevent the control from being harmful. With small, limited government, it doesn't much matter who controls it, because it can't do you much harm." - Harry Browne |
