In order to bring further democracy to unions, and to prevent union leaders using strikes for political or otherwise selfish reasons, as well as to ensure that workers are fairly represented by their unions, we propose that Unions be made to hold a ballot of its members before going on strike. |

Message | I never understood this schtick about ballots and democracy in unions. Isn't membership voluntary? Can't you just leave the union if you don't want to strike? Why would you let the majority mob of your union decide if you strike or not? A union is basically a corporation. They need income to meet/exceed costs just like any business. If we don't tell business how to run their business, what right to we have to tell unions how to run theirs? As long as everyone is participating voluntarily that is... |
