Message | I now open debate on Telamonian membership in the Macon common market. We will have a fair amount of time to debate this piece of legislation, since the election is too soon for us to vote on it until after the election. This will give voters an issue upon which to base their electoral decision, at the very least. I believe that the future of Telamon involves standing side-by-side with our neighbours. Cooperation helps us build political capital and goodwill that can be used to further our position and interests within the continental congress. Enlarging trade with our allies not only makes us wealthier, but makes them wealthier too. Because we are allies, trade makes us all stronger and better able to exert influence in the broader world. Is trade a good thing? Well, surely we must ask whether it makes sense for our manufacturers, or those in Davostan or Hutori, to have to pay a tax just for bringing goods across the border. If it so happens that Ferene is good at producing auto parts, but the cheapest place to assemble is in Hutori, consumers end up paying the costs of the inefficiency of producing everything at home. Will this affect the workers? Trade makes society as a whole richer, and makes consumers better off, however, workers in the less efficient industries may experience some problems in the short-run (though they will, at the same time, benefit from lower prices in stores). Given our continent however, and the relatively free labour mobility within members of the union that exists now (and that I strive to improve), even the usual costs of trade are wholly minimized. Now we have already passed the necessary legislation to put Telamon in line with the treaty. So even if you don't agree with its provisions, they are in law already. So for all these reasons, I urge the other parties of Telamon - of all political stripes - to pass this valuable legislation. |

Message | We wholeheartedly support this free trade treaty and believe that it can only benefit the Telamonian economy, as well as generally the Macon one. We have always been in favour of universal free trade. However, we do acknowledge the concerns of the CPA that this treaty although pertaining to the union, was not discussed in Congress. As such, should an acceptable alternative be negotiated soon, via official channels in Congress then we would be happy to support that. Failing that then we will have no hesitation in supporting this |

Message | All we ask is that the UCA reserve their support until an alternative can be discussed, and hopefully proposed, in Congress. I'm glad to see they're willing to be patient. |

Message | You claim this will improve the lives of the workers, yet you hide behind the bourgeois line of a trickle down economy. This has been tried with the IMF and WTO, who both wanted to eliminate poverty, but what happened? Quite the opposite! The bourgeoisie simply used the loans to intensify their already maticulous exploitation of the masses. The effect of this treaty will be massive losses in jobs. After all, why employ a worker from Telamon if you can simply squeeze extra labor out of a worker from Hutori? The continent will become a sprawling empire of the international bourgeoisie. "Look how much our economy has improved" one will say, but this will only serve to make the workers tremble with indignation. A billion more dollars into the economy from the trade pact and two billion from the workers to the bourgeoisie! |

Message | This doesn't stand a chance in hell. You'd need 401 yes votes for this, and even if the Marxist Peoples, Popular Socialists, Communists, Telamon Peoples and Cooperative Populists abstained you couldn't get this to pass. |

Message | We support this, and raise our collective eyebrows at the CPA's... emotional debating style. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
