Bill: Removal of Chemical/Biological Weapons from the Nations Arsenal
Details
Submitted by[?]: Party of the Republic
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2090
Description[?]:
Chemical and biological weapons represent a drain on the nations economy. We dont need them, and while they're a nice thought the funding could go to more effective means, such as the regular military, or increasing the size of the nuclear arsenal. Biological weapons and chemical weapons need certain conditions to be the most effective. Aside from being terror weapons they hold little real combat value and only divert funding from other military related projects. This proposal will not completely eliminate research of biological and chemical weapons. Designated labs across the nation will contain samples of heavily leathal bio/chem weapons for future production of vaccines and antigens. This is to ensure that our nation will be prepared for the worst situation, and that in the future, should we need to restart the program, the essential materials will be in place to do so. |

Message | As far as I know, we do not have any in our arsenal at the moment, and while we hope that remains true, the passage of this bill could add an unneccessary layer of red tape to the situation where we may actually need these weapons. While I think we are on the same wavelength here in terms of the desire for Bio/Chem weapons, The Moderates cannot support setting this barrier in place. |

Message | We agree with the PoR. The money we spend on developing chemical and biological weapons could be much better spent on other aspects of the military. Such weapons are harmful to all, not just those whom we intend them to harm. We do not believe that there is any situation in which the use of such weapons is justified, much less necessary. |

Message | I also agree; however, instead of funding the military the money saved from not developing biological/chemical weapons could be well spent by boosting education and healthcare. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
