Bill: Aldegar Canal Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Aldegar Liberty Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2395
Description[?]:
Resolved: To build a lock-based canal through the state of Polran. To accomplish this goal we propose the following steps. 1) Allocate 1.6 billion Aldegar Crowns annually through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the construction of the canal. 2) The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport shall conduct an open bidding for the contract to construct the canal. The Department will not operate on a low-bid win policy in the bidding process and will include measures to insure that the winning company operates within Aldegarian law in protecting its workers. 3) Upon construction of the canal the Aldegarian government will create a publicly traded company, The Aldegar Canal LLC. However, the Aldegar government is mandated to always maintain a majority share in the holdings. 4) The government’s members of The Aldegar Canal LLC’s board will be selected by the president and confirmed by majority vote in the Grand Council. They shall serve indefinite terms with performance reviews every ten years conducted by the Grand Council and concluded with a simple yay or nay vote on each board member’s retention of the position. |

Message | As the Party of Moderates mentioned they incorporated the 1.6 billion ACR required for this project into the latest budget which passed so we've removed that section. Please feel free to discuss this bill. If there are no serious objections by apprx. April 2935 we'll move this to vote, but we're willing to keep this on the floor as long as needed to resolve any issues with it. |

Message | We'll vote yes if the Minister can give assicuration that the State will mantain almost the 60% of share of the Aldegar Canal LLC. We don't want that strangers investors can have the majority share. |

Message | I can’t guarantee that they’ll hold that much, but it’s mandated in the resolution that Aldegar holds at least 51%, a majority share of the corporation. |

Message | The TCP can agree to this, but we would like to see more dialogue regarding the benefits of this canal for our people - will it enhance tourism? Trade possibilities? We just want to make sure it's worth the budget cut-backs before we rush into anything. Having said that, though, we will support for now. |
