Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: January 2397

Description[?]:

SHOULD DRA MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, VINCENTO VANZETTI, AGREE TO THIS PEACE TREATY PROPOSED BY THE REPUBLIC OF ALDEGAR ON BEHALF OF OUR NATION?

The Republic of Aldegar, being a peace-loving, honorable, and fair nation that is planning for the creation of a canal that shall become vital for trade in the Southern Hemisphere, desires to affirm that it shall not attack any nation without just cause in extreme situations.

The Republic of Aldegar hereby declares:

(1) it shall never be the aggressor in a war,

(2) it reserves the right to go to war if its sovereign territory is assaulted,

(3) it reserves the right to take offensive action if its sovereign territory is struck by an extra-governmental organization which is then aided or abetted by a foreign government,

(4) it reserves the right to go to war against an aggressor in a war against a fellow member of a defensive alliance,

(5) it reserves the right to go to war against a nation attacking a close ally,

(6) and it reserves the right to be part of a peacekeeping force that is a coalition of no less than 3 nations when including the Republic of Aldegar in which the Republic of Aldegar shall contribute no more than 33% of the coalition's forces.

Ratifies of this treaty declare:

(1) they acknowledge the terms outlined in the Aldegar Non-Aggression Treaty,

(2) they shall never go to war or assault the sovereign territory, assets, or possessions of the Republic of Aldegar.

The Republic of Aldegar shall soon be home to a canal that shall become vital to trade in the Southern Hemisphere. The canal shall become a target for warmongers and any others that the Republic of Aldegar has gone to war with. For this reason, this treaty has been set up to allow nations to quickly respond to threats to the Aldegar Canal, and thus, their own industries.

Ratifiers of this treaty declare:

(1) they shall defend Aldegar in any case that Aldegar's sovereign territory is attacked by militias or professional soldiers of a foreign entity,

(2) they shall not abstain from this treaty during a time when Aldegar's sovereign territory is being attacked.

The Republic of Aldegar declares:

(1) they shall give a 40% tax relief of the tax placed on all vessels using the Aldegar Canal that belong to the government, corporate entities that base their operations in a ratifier's nation, or private citizens that are nationals of a ratifying nation,

(2) they shall consider all nations ratifying this treaty as being close allies,

(3) they shall strongly consider going to the defense of a ratifying nation that is attacked by a foreign entity,

(4) they reserve the right to evict any foreign entity from this treaty if they commit blatant abuses of human rights.

MessageThe Minister of Foreign Affairs recommends a respectful NO vote. This treaty threatens "entanglements" with this nation should they go to war. We would get sucked in whether we really wanted to assist them or not. As such, it also jeopardies somewhat our national sovereignty.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
