MessageNot that it matters, but the majority of Lodamun is now environmentalist.

Messagejust barely...
203.04(where 400 is full environmentalist and 0 is pure skeptic)

We refuse to "value" the environment, and feel that it is the people's responsibility to do so. As a legislative body, we feel that what we choose to value should be decided by the people themselves, without input from us.

MessageWe, as a body politic, have an obligation to reflect the will of the people as fart as is possible. This means that we should keep one eye on the green side of things, but not to the expense of trade for example, given our nation's capitalist position.

Messagelol yeah that's a good typo.

The Greens support trade and have no objection to wise capitalism which has an awareness of ecological values. No one however has proposed the elimination of capitalism in Lodamun recently. On the other hand there are a bunch of bills that would destroy the principle of environmental stewardship utterly. This bill aims to assert the principle that the protection of the environment is a valid goal of the government. Thanks to the ASP for recognizing that and taking a balanced approach.

MessageThe bills proposed are to hand the control of the environment back to the people. This is not, in our view, and as we understand in the view of TiC, an issue for government regulation. It is a matter for the people themselves to adopt. No amount of regulation will prevent environmentally damaging practices from going on while it is not a concern of the people. If it is a concern of the people that no regulation is needed. Can you see the situation.

We could try to enforce eco friendly regulations which would push up our government expenditure and thus our industrial costs more than just the ecological measures themselves would, with no real effect unless we adopt a completey totalitarian position of regulating every action of every business. That is opposed to capitalism. Remember the opposition to capitaism is not socialism, it is regulation. We propose instead to free our industry from regulations but to inform and eduycate the public. The one real force that can promote eco friendly business is the consumer and consumer choice. Regulation just creates rule breakers or eliminates all entrepreneurial acton, however an aducated and conscientious buying public will enforce green measures not only here in Lodamun, but for every country that wishes to export to us. (As our currency is one of the strongest in the world, access to our markets is a significant factor.)

MessageThe need for education is obvious. Those avenues have been blocked by recent legislation ending public education and blocking green charter schools, debates on which carried such comments as: "Stop using the government to impose your values." Regulation is ther only avenue left to us. Just as the nation has a right to defend itself from military attack (a government role) it has a right to defend its natural environment. Any corporation breaking the law of the land should face the penalty, as with any other law.

MessagePublic education places restriction on the material that can be taught. Green charter schools were not specifically blocked. What was blocked was the use of government, tax payer funds to provide any ideological education. This was blocked because we are opposed to government control of any form in education. The green movement may set up as many schools as it wishes, just with its own money.

Any corporation CAUGHT breaking the law will pay the penalty. How do you propose to catch them?

We do support that tthe environment is valuable and should be protected. We agree with the goals of the Green Advantage party there. What we disagree with is the means by which they are attempting to enforce this ideal. We hold that freedom of choice has to be primary. Only then can the people truly express their desire and intention to be protective of the environment. To be able to do that they have to have information. The problem with regulatory policies is that they supplant the dissemation of information and they create the climate in which natural rebeliousness causes damage to the environment.

We will vote in favour as we support the basic statement of the law. We do wish to register our differing opinion on the methodology.

MessageOne minor point. Wilderness, per se is not necessarily good. The protection of the ecosystem is the good that we support.

MessageAs this bill doesnt suggest that regulation or government interference is necessary in any way, nor does it change any proposal values, we will vote in favor.
