Bill: The Aldegarian Space Exploration Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Aldegar Freedom Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2407

Description[?]:

Family First believes that it is absolutely disgraceful that the heavy burden of punishing taxation for a state-owned space exploration agency should fall on the shoulders of the decent and hard-working citizens and families of Aldegar. We feel that space exploration is something far, far too costly to be funded entirely by the state, and it will detract too much funding from other areas of Aldegar's budget, aswell as costing tax payers fortunes.
We do realise that space exploration is a matter of national pride, so we are not proposing the elimination of any state-funded exploration. But we believe that allowing the private sector to fund expeditions for themselves will be a fantastic thing for our nation too, and it will be great for the economy, and also create new jobs. Private agencies may also be able to make use of advertising, sell tickets to customers wanting to travel into space, and even gain sponsorship from wealthy enterprises. A market for space exploration will also, of course, be fantastic for competition, and may drive Aldegar's technological standards to brand new heights. Of course, any private agency will run space explorations always in Aldegar's name, and will be required to display the Aldegarian flag.
We realise that space exploration is a thing of national pride - we are, therefore, not trying to eliminate all state-funded space exploration. But Family First believes that the private sector will be able to run a much more efficient and advanced market for space exploration, and it will not cost tax-payers a cent.
Therefore, we suggest that both public and privately owned space agencies may co-exist.

MessageSpace exploration is a national goal. It is necesary for international, scientific competition and Aldegarian pride. However, we recognize the efficiency of private companies. So, we prefer a proposal allowing both private and public space exploration agencies.
