Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: October 2402
Description[?]:
Family First fervently believes that the current public school system, whilst it has been influenced beneficially by continual reform in the past on behalf of the center-right coalition, is still flawed. This, we believe, is not the fault of any party involved in its reform, but the fault of the public education system's fundamental nature in and of itself. We believe that the current public school system is not achieving the educational standards of the private school system, and the primary reason for this is that public school's are ensured a full enrollment every single year, due to their convenience of location for neighbourhoods, and cost. Due to this unwavering enrolment, they are not compelled to compete with other public schools, because they simply do not need to try and secure their enrollments above any other public school. Thus, the essence of competition, which is the undeniable driving force for any successful enterprise or institution of any description, is completely destroyed. Furthermore, teachers at public schools are not paid nearly as much as teachers at private schools, simply because of this lack in competition, and public schools therefore attract teachers of an academic standard far weaker than private school teachers; public school teachers who know that their skills would not be adequate enough for them to survive in the visciously competitive environment of a private school. The mental and academic growth of our nation's children are suffering because these schools are not satisfying their educational potential. But Family First believes that if parents were given a voucher from the government with a generous amount of money to go towards their child's school fees, the problem of having no choice other than to send one's child to a substandard public school, due to financial difficulty, is removed, as is the problem of what beliefs the school imparts upon its pupils - many religious families are forced to send their children to school's that teach their pupils secular humanism, and they are not happy with their children being indotrinated by anything other than their particular religion's beliefs, including issues concerning sexual education. Family First does, however, support the mandatory education of all children in regards to sexually transmitted diseases, and education about these matters will continue to be part of a system all schools must adhere to. Therefore, a much more effective, efficient, and family friendly way to give our nation's children the educational standards and religious values they want and deserve is to impliment the Family First's voucher system - each family will be supplied with a generous voucher from the government, all of which will contain the same amount of money, which they will be able to exchange in order to assist with their child's fees at any private school, religious or not, that they see fit for their child's education. No longer will parents feel forced into sending their child to second rate schools - they will be given freedom of choice and freedom to decide which institution is best for their child. Family First will put an end to substandard education and enforced lack of religious values and secular humanism. Let Aldegar's families decide where their children are taught. Let Aldegar's families send their children to an educational institution they can trust and be proud of - they are the ones who know what is best for their children. Families must always come first. |

Message | In response to the S.C.A.F.R - Family First cannot take seriously or take into consideration any opinion that is not justified properly, articulately, and extensively by the party that holds it. We are afraid that in order for us to appreciate any sentiments made by the S.C.A.F.R, and any other party that may partake in this debate, we require that every arguement is supported by substantial logic, common sense, and where appropriate, evidence. For now, we can only see the S.C.A.F.R's arguement as one of obsessive, needless and restrictive state control over all institutions within the nation as a means of consequently controlling its people en masse. This is nothing more than opressive communist rhetoric. |

Message | Your "great" education's system is horrible, dear F.F., and people's can understand that without my consideration. AOnly private schools can create a racism against people's that haven't money to pay the studies |

Message | ooc : sorry, but i've pushed "enter" but the mssage is uncomplete. A system with only private schools is a racist system because who hasn't money can't study. We think that a public entirely free system of schools maybe better. |

Message | The S.C.A.F.R. does realize that money is a non-factor with a voucher system, right? At any rate, we applaud the FF in their creation of this bill. Vouchers for private schooling is ideal. Our only reservation is the same as with previous bills that had articles like article 3. We would like the children to still be educated about STDs. Just put a quick 10 word sentence in the description, and then this has our support. |

Message | This bill doesn't move the members of our party either way; so add the clause the Party of Moderates suggests and we'll vote for this bill as a show of solidarity in our coalition. |

Message | Family First has made an alteration to this legislation stating that education regarding STD's will still be mandatory in all schools; whilst schools themselves may decide whether or not they feel it is appropriate to teach children about sexual intercourse and matters of a private sexual nature, STD's will remain part of a mandatory education for all children. We hope that this change helps our allies in their vote. |

Message | And in response to the S.C.A.F.R's concerns - as the PM have stated, in a voucher system, financial problems are completely erradicated; the same as a public system, the only difference is that now parents will have the freedom to choose a good education for their child at a school they feel comfortable with, and they can be assured that their child will have a decent private school education. As for the S.C.A.F.R's concerns about racism in a private school system, we are not entirely certain that we understand the logic behind this - racism is just as much an issue in a private school as it is in a public school, but if the S.C.A.F.R is referring to racist prejudice in the school's selection system against students of different ethnicities, we were under the impression that current legislation made any racist selection of students illegal conduct. If we are mistaken in this, then we are happy to include in this legislation a regulation that no schools can descriminate in the selection process on grounds of race. This is not an issue at all, and if the S.C.A.F.R would feel more comfortable with this anti-descrimination regulation in writing, we are more than happy to oblige. |

Message | In response to the AWP's comments, Family First would like to point out that articles 2 and 3 are intrinsically linked with article 1. The entire foundation of this new scheme is to allow the parents to make their own decisions about which educational institution they feel their child should attend, what kind of beliefs they are happy with their child learning about at that institution. We understand at this point that the AWP may have concerns with the subsidies for all children's educations - this is simply because we know that there are many people in the community, many families, who cannot possibly afford a decent education for their child. Under this system they can send their child to the institution they always wanted them to attend - an institution they can be proud of. The funding is virtually the same as the current public system - the only difference is that now, parents have the choice, where before, they were obliged to send their child to shoddy local schools providing second-rate, substandard education. We cannot see any possible dilemma in this new scheme. We strongly urge that the AWP support this legislation - in the interests of Aldegar's families, and the children of Aldegar's future. |
