Bill: Worker's councils in industry
Details
Submitted by[?]: Catholic Workers Movement
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2092
Description[?]:
The employees of major industries should be given the opportunity to control their own workplaces. This bill, if passed, would permit employees to form cooperatives that elect their own management and run their factories themselves. There will be no state interference in the running of these democratic worker's councils. Private owners will receive full compensation for the loss of their ownership, with the amount to be established by a neutral tribunal (as with eminent domain). |

Message | I think you've got the wrong proposal haven't you? Even so no. This is against business, creativity and inginuity. Commitees can't win wars and business is war. It needs a leadership structure that is to be respected - not run like a government. Private industry makes for a strong and viable economy. |

Message | Nah, that's the proposal i want. It allows worker control, while still letting small family-owned business prosper. |

Message | Oh right I'm going mad. I thought you had the "Commanding heights, government control" one.... sorry |

Message | Worker's councils will have a harder time when faced with tough decisions - I don't see them going up against the workers that elected them in the first place. We need someone to take the high road when the economy asks for it. |

Message | What is the HSC's preferred method of industrial regulation? |

Message | "Strategic industries are owned by the state in order to ensure the public good; all other industries are under private ownership." isn't very different from our opinion. |

Message | We prefer to let the workers be their own bosses, not have the state impose a boss on them. |

Message | Oh dear Lord. Why do you on insist on punishing the successful? What's wrong with having 'made it' in life? I especially don't undestand the HSC stance - individuals are better than governments for your beloved science. |

Message | This is not meant to punish the successful, it is meant to put the Republic upon the road of worker control, to more closely relate work and the people doing it. It does allow for full compensation to the owners, after all. |
