Bill: The Number of Seats
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialists
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2409
Description[?]:
We have been discussing the number of seats in the Council of the Elite and have come to a conclusion. There is 2 main problems with the number of seats. The number is a equal one, this means that there could be a situation where we have 50 vs 50. There is only 100 seats to represent the people of The People's Republic of Solentia. Our suggestion to solve the problem would be to increase the number to 251 seats. -The Socialists |

Message | Yes and no. I would support a change to 101 or 99 for an odd number, but other than that, I see no real problem with the amount of seats |

Message | We disapprove of an increase and will not support. 100 is fine and the chances of 50 - 50 are not currently possible, nor will they probably be probable in the future. |

Message | On October 2406 there was 74799915 votes, with only 100 seats to represent the people, this means that some people wont be heard. Even though 251 wouldnt be alot compared to 74799915, its still more than double the number we have now. So therefor the increase is for a democratic purpose. Let the people be heard! |

Message | "This is not for a democratic purpose, it is for the purpose to negotiate government money for more pay to representatives. The reason there are 100 Senators in current service to our people is for the simplistic sake of efficiency. The less representatives there are, the more serious electoral races are and the more they are valued. They more the people will see their suffrage as increasingly important if it is used with ultimate care. We do not see the practical purpose of implementing legislation to increase the seats by double and one half for the sake of having an odd number and for having more excess legislators than needed. Not only is this a waste of the government's time, it is a capitalist's excuse for quantity over quality." - ATIP Minority Leader Sherrod Brown |

Message | "Dear Sherrod Brown, why is this a capitalist's excuse for quantity over quality. The quality won't fall, ofcause there will be more discussing and debating on subjects, but in the end it will lead to a more democratic society with better quality decisions because of more debating and because it will allow a greater percentage of the people to be heard. With only 100 seats we leave the people as audience, with lots of voices to not be heard and a capitalist wouldnt support that." - Thu Katriona, The Socialists |

Message | "If the people value more who their candidates are for a select seat, more will be put into an electoral race. Having seats for the sake of more seats is not an advantage of the government. Increasing the seats has no basis in proportional reality. Also, how will adding 151 seats allow the people to be heard more easily? If you want to accomplish that, then we might as well raise the amount of seats to 750. An excess of seats is not a beneficial factor and might I add making it odd for the sake of preventing a tie is by no means democratic. Each side should be able to have representation equally. Our legislature's figures should not be lopsided." - ATIP Minority Leader Sherrod Brown |

Message | "Lets raise it to 750 then, our point is to give the people the power they deserve. And 100 isnt quite enough to represent over 74799915 peole. You are right in the odd number thing, and we would be against it, if the situation was that we didnt have facists and so on." - Thu Katriona, The Socialists |
