Message | To encourage less confusion about the election dates, we propose altering the term length, so that barring an early call for elections, elections will stay in the same month every term, rather than alternating between months. In the interests of having sufficient time to enact all proposals within the course of the term (which take at minimum 8 months to enact), we suggest a 3-year, or 36 month term. How do my colleagues feel about this proposal? |
Date | 16:32:52, August 01, 2005 CET | From | Market Socialist Party | To | Debating the Reasonable Term Length Amendment |
Message | The Market Socialist party feels that 3 years will be too short, parties and canadates will be so busey with their re-election campaignes that they will not have time to rule the nation well. We think that perhaps 5 years, or 60 months will do much better. |

Message | we'll consider 5 years, though we really don't feel that in the interests of constant renewal, that we should go over 4 years (48 mo). Any other thoughts? |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
