Bill: The New Health and Legislature Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Kemetia-Aldegar Unionist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2089

Description[?]:

We believe that for pregnant women it is best to allow abortion during the first trimester. This will cover those who are unaware they are pregnant and are having a tough time to decide.
We also believe that every region should be given equal representation, regardless of the region's population.

MessageWe support both of the Articles in this Act, although we think it would have been wiser to submit these as two separate Acts instead of a joint one, as two very separate issues are at stake. Also, bundling the two Articles together in a single Act means that passing it will require a two-thirds majority in the Grand Council. because of the constitutional nature of Article 2. If Article 1 was voted on separately in a different Act, it would need only a simple majority of votes to be passed.

MessageWe do not back this bill, as some women only realise that they are pregnant in the second trimester. If this was to be extended to the second trimester and put in a seperate act we would have voted for it, but as it stands our vote is no.
