Bill: Change Armament for the Police
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Socialist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2038
Description[?]:
Seeing no crime is to be punished by death neither should the police have the option to carry out this harsh penalty. With the arms the police today carry many innocent or petty thieves are shot to death by mistake or by lack of information/misunderstanding from the police departments side. By changing to non-lethal arms the police will still be able to neutralize their targets but no chance of taking it to far and killing the target. |

Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The weapons used by police forces.
Old value:: Police officers carry standard firearms.

Message | Provided lethal weapons are still available during certain exceptional instances, such as when replying to an armed robbery, we agree. The standard issue equipment of police should be non-lethal, to prevent accidents and possible abuse by the small fraction of police officers that do not take their obligations to heart. |

Message | The police is still, of course, obligied to protect civilians and the society with all means necessary and I would assume that such equipment that is used to bring down villains before they could hurt the society/population would be available at say, the trunks of their cars and in each police-station. |

Random quote: On 7th February 4281 a group of renowned Metzist experts from all across Terra met in Haldor to form the International Committee for the Estimation of the End Date of Capitalism (ICEEDC). With the assistance of a powerful computer, they calculated that capitalism will terminate Terra-wide on 6th November 4320, and in Dorvik on April 17th 4310. We have no reason whatsoever to believe these very eminent and learned scholars are wrong. They have never been wrong about anything before. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |
