Bill: Representation Act 2089

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Centre Party of Gaduridos

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2090

Description[?]:

The number of seats in Congress has not changed in well over a decade. We are overdue for a rebalancing, to get back into the range set out in the initial Representation Act we passed. This calls for one seat for each 110,000 to 120,000 Gaduri citizens.

We therefore propose increasing the number of seats in Congress from 359 to 373, which would create a ratio of one seat for every 119,962 people.

MessageThe initital Representation Act, passed in 2066, requires us to increase the size of Congress. That act can be seen here. http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=5607

I certainly hope will we pass this fairly minimal increase. If it fails, we ought to consider repealing the Representation Act and/or creating a new one to set up a process for periodically changing the number of seats.

MessageWe would prefer a senate, consisting of 100 senators, but sadly that would not pass, so we will agree to this
