Message | We cannot support this proposal - consent is absolutely nessicary - organs belong to the individual, and he has absolutely full power over what happens to them. If he does not give his consent, then it should be assumed that he did not want to donate them. The individual's organs belong to him, even in death, and as the government, it's our absolute responsibility to keep our hands off. If the individual wants to donate his organs, he will either sign a contract giving express permission, or he will go and have an organ removed with the sole purpose of donating it. But taking it from him without his direct consent is stealing; this is essentially a communist tactic, to regard one's property as property virtually of the state that the state can claim whenever they choose. Family First is confused as to why our allies are both proposing this legislation and voting in favour of it - what happened to individual rights? What happened to liberty? |

Message | The PM supports this piece of legislation. This legislation, while hurting an individual's liberty (even if it is liberty during death), can save lives. If an individual or their relatives truly are against organ donation, they can simply state this and the procedure will not be done. This legislation merely has those who were too lazy to take the time to sign up for donation or sign their name to a notice saying they don't want to donate to donate, and if they didn't take the time to state they didn't want to donate, then do they really care either way? |

Message | However, if they were against organ donation and died a sudden death, without any warning whatsoever, how were they ever supposed to give their consent? Many, many deaths happen on a sudden basis, without warning at all. Just because these people have died suddenly and have not had the opportunity to express their wishes does not mean they should not have the same liberties as the rest of society - they, too, deserve the right to keep their body; their property, unless they express otherwise, and the only moral thing to do is to assume that, if they have not expressed otherwise, regardless of their reasons why they have not expressed otherwise, they want to keep their property, even in death. This is an un-Godly piece of legislation - robbing the dead of their most personal posessions is gutless, regardless of the motives. Sometimes the mean to an end matters more than the end; most certainly in this case - one's right to his own body is absolute - nothing can be 'assumed'. This is gutless, disrespectful stealing, and nothing more - it is stealing without consent. It would not matter if the organs would save one person, or five person's lives - an individual's organs are his own, and he has absolute control over them, even in death. If this bill passes, it will be a sad, sad day for the liberty of Aldegar. |
