Bill: Localized Farm Subsidies
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Distributionist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2415
Description[?]:
The LDP believes that it is far more effective to allow local governments to control farming subsidies to low-income farming communities. Not only will this unravel the red tape inherent in national control of such subsidies, but we feel that it is much more likely that local governments will be better aware of the needs of nearby families and communities. It is in a local government's best interest, after all, to help their own area's farms quickly, efficiently and, most importantly, correctly. |

Message | I support this bill, but i also wonder if this may offer a competitive advantage to farmers in one kingdom as opposed to another. |

Message | We concede that may be a possibility, but without implementing the system we may never know. Even if that becomes a problem, it's impossible to say how big a problem it really would be. We are of the opinion that a little difference between systems isn't going to make a large difference overall. |

Message | This makes excellent sense. This allows the local governments, the directly elected governments of these low income farmers, to be the ones who decide how much and where their subsidies go. If this leads to one Kingdoms getting the edge over another in productioon, so be it. competition is good for the system as a whole. Now if one Kingdom can't hang in that competition and is facing crisis, we'll have to change. But i believe in our strong agricultural base. |

Message | I think the idea of letting local governments " craft agricultural policy" is disturbing yet I'll support this as a cost-saving measure |
Date | 03:08:37, June 18, 2007 CET | From | Independent Republican Party | To | Debating the Localized Farm Subsidies |
Message | Some provinces may have more rural areas than others, so this allows local governments to make the call on subsidies. |
