Message | So there is a riot taking place - you think the appropriate thing is to let it happen. Oh of course, if the rioters do anything illegal, surely the police will be able to carefully identify who did what. Civil rights are meaningless in the absence of order - indeed, the rule of law IS the first civil right, for it is that which takes us out of a world governed by force, and into one governed by law. I say that if the duly elected representatives of the people, deem that an assembly of individuals believes that imminent harm to the life, liberty and property of the nation is threatened by public disorder, (and often we may be discussing the safety of the rioters themselves - what if say, two mobs of people that hated each other were going at it?). Let us not also forget the power this gives to very small minorities of the population to block vital roadways and paralyze the nation. |

Message | That is a different situation entirely. Right of assembly is an inalienable right for all citizens. Those who break the law will be dealth with through legal means but to prevent protests for "safety reasons" is merely a channel for governments to assert their policies forcefully without approval from their constituencies. The rule of law includes the right to assemble, so this law does not defy the principles that we both seem to support. What your party needs to do is actually open your eyes to bigger picture. Elected representatives may "deem" any individual whose views oppose theirs as "harmful." Until those protesters actually break the law by becoming violent, they shall be able to protest. |

Message | It clearly says only if a state of Emergancy is declared. We are not dispearsing every crowd to assemble we are only doing so when there are lives in danger. |

Message | A state of emergency can be declared whenever some bogus reason is invented. Has history not proven this clearly inscribed point? |

Random fact: When forming a cabinet, try to include as few parties as possible, while still obtaining a majority of the seats. |
Random quote: "Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people." - Tenche Coxe |
