Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:
Date | 06:55:18, August 04, 2005 CET | From | Dolgar Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Banning of Trade Unions |
Message | Strikes are a balance against the dark force of underpayment. If strikes were illegal, workers would be horribly underpayed by their employers, and Dolgar would be poor. |
Date | 06:33:26, August 05, 2005 CET | From | Neo-Liberal Party | To | Debating the Banning of Trade Unions |
Message | Trade unions provide an effective way of consulting with a particular group of workers and supporting them in workplace matters. We should safeguard the right to strike, the right to be a member of a trade union and the intertwining issue which is right to free speech. To ban unions would be a gross violation of civil liberties and as the Libertarian Party have pointed out, their existence is economically positive for Dolgar. In future we could perhaps look at the methods used by unions and where curtailing their powers may be in the national interest. However, on the question of banning them, there is no plausible case for doing so. |
