Message | This bill can't work without a proper description. Race/religion/gender leaves a lot of options which need to be explained in the bill description. For example: I have voted aye, presuming this means the franchise will be restricted to Artanian Christians - whereas my honourable friend votes nay because she thinks it means to restrict the vote to men. |

Message | This is a bigoted proposal. Everyone who was born within this country to nationals, and every immigrant that has gone through the hurdles to become a national should be considered a citizen. We hate the status quo, but this proposal is even worse. |
Date | 21:30:06, June 20, 2007 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Citizenship Act |
Message | What kind of idea is that? Citizenship should be earnt - something that is given has no value! |

Message | We suppose some monkeys like you couldn't understand that. Anyway, the statement you have made makes no sense whatsoever. |

Message | Giving Citizenship away in cornflakes packets or with birth certificates or passports or whatever would seriously devalue it. Unlike Civilians, our Citizens have proven they are prepared to put the Empire before themselves and sacrifice themselves, or a significant amount of their time, to Imperial Service. Why should someone without this selfless commitment to the Empire be given the privileges of a Citizen - especially voting or standing for public office. |

Message | Maybe because they're people, too? |

Message | Just being "people" doesn't qualify them to choose His Serene Majesty's Government! |
Date | 15:03:10, June 21, 2007 CET | From | Secular Party | To | Debating the Citizenship Act |
Message | How about the fact they deserve rights? How about the fact they can introduce a greater amount of accountability? |
Date | 15:21:56, June 21, 2007 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Citizenship Act |
Message | Rights should be balanced with responsibilities. Veterens have shared Imperial responsibility and have earnt their rights. What have civilians done? |
Date | 15:30:42, June 21, 2007 CET | From | Secular Party | To | Debating the Citizenship Act |
Message | Well, they're being forced to join the military when they become 18. Besides, political activity is both a right and a responsibility in itself. |
Date | 15:34:44, June 21, 2007 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Citizenship Act |
Message | No-one is being into the Luthorian Armed Forces, which are 100% professional and voluntary. The privilege of voting or standing for public office is far from a right or responsibility. |
Date | 15:39:20, June 21, 2007 CET | From | Secular Party | To | Debating the Citizenship Act |
Message | Rights are freedom of movement. Voting or trying to be a part of a public office is movement. Thus, it is a right. Responsibilities are actions that improve the lives of citizens of this country and the country itself. Voting presents accountability. Thus, it is a responsibility. By the way, if our military is voluntary, then why does it say that "all adults, upon completion of schooling, must serve a term of military service" in the policy concerning mandatory military service? |

Message | Damnation: how did that get through?! |
