MessageObviously, this is a centerpiece of the CP program. We accept the Socialist Party's explanation that its abstention on this issue was inadvertent, but we consider the SP honor-bound to take the second opportunity to vote "yes" on the issue ... not only was this the concession requested in exchange for appointing an SP member to the Foreign Affairs ministry; it was also with this understanding that the CP cast its good-faith vote for the Legalization of Unions Act sponsored by the SP. We consider this a personal agreement between the current president and the SP leadership, and we understand that the SP is not bound in any way past the current legislative term.

MessageAgain, we reiterate our willingness to drop this issue in exchange for letting "Gun Control for Private Citizens" and all other gun control proposals this term die.

MessageI don't think that being a member of a union should be madatory, although it should definitely be encouraged. I will have to wait to see what my coalition members say. As for gun control, I am willing for licensed guns, but other than that, free ownership is not close to my parties agenda.

(OOC: This game is really starting to take off now :D so cool)

MessageLet us put it this way CP... We will vote with you on this. But we will then put forward another proposal which turn it back, and that proposal will get passed.

MessageWe fully expect you to do so after the new round of elections ... if you still have the votes to do so.

MessageWe will do so before the new round of elections. While we agreed to vote with you on this, and we will, the other proposal will be put forward, and as long as the rest of the coalition agrees, it will get passed.

MessageThe quid pro quo we offered specifically precluded your revisiting this issue before the new round of elections.

MessageIf you, having gotten a tangible concession from us, refuse to make an agreed-upon concession in return, we will take this as a sign that you are a bad-faith negotiator ... and we will make every possible effort to reorganize the cabinet.

MessageThere is no way we will back this.
Another point is this, you are welcome to try and remove the Socialist Party from the cabinet, but know this. Each time you bring it to the vote, Sanctaphrax Party will vote no, regardless of the benefits to our party.

MessageIn this case, the following action should be taken, the CP and SP vote yes to this motion, and Sanc and I will register our no votes. But it will still pass, however, after this bill has passed be aware that the coalition will repeal this Bill.

MessageWe thank our coalition members for standing by us. And it never precluded us revisiting the issue before then next election. In fact we always said that we would revisit the issue as soon as possible.

MessageThen I say take it to the vote and the repeal it so the SP does not break their word.

MessageOur party specifically noted that we were making a substantive concession in exchange for a substantive concession from your party--we were not making it in order to get nothing in return, nor would it have been rational for us to do so ... and we did specifically bring up the question of revisiting the minimum program before the elections in the debate on the cabinet proposal, stating that to do so would violate the understanding by which we offered the Foreign Affairs Ministry to the SP. The Sanctaphrax and Kellarly Parties were witness to this exchange and will share responsibility if they co-operate with your efforts to swindle the Communist Party. It's bad enough that through your abstention on the CP minimum program--your good-faith support for which was the original point at issue--caused a CP proposal to be voted down, thus costing us support from the electorate. Now you wish to compound that by forcing us to lose another vote on the same issue, AND taking back the concession you had made.

MessageWe apologise for our abstention. That was not our intention, and doing so also hurt our support from the electorate. You will win this act. However, it will be repealed. You knew what would happen, and yet you still put it to vote. The same happened with the Legal Age bill. You knew we would vote it down, and yet you put it to vote. We are not taking back our concession. We are merely making sure that what the majority of the government wants, gets. If you wish, we CAN take back the concession and not vote this through, but we are voting with you in good faith. And for 8 months there will only be closed shop unions. Enjoy it while it lasts.

MessageThanks for your vote. We apologize for the intemperate language and exaggerations used by our side during this controversy, and request your support for the Reconciliation Bill in order to prevent long-term animosity between our parties.

MessageI must admit to never having seen where the SSKC Socialists agreed to this, but if someone wishes to point it out to me, I'll gladly look it up. However it does look to us like the CP's only intention is to split the Coalition apart. Therefore, and with that in mind, we urge the SSKC Socalist Party to drop this agreement ASAP.

MessagePeople should have the right to choose whether they want to belong to a trade union or not. There is no way we are going to back this bill.
