Bill: The Prepared Citizenry Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Distributionist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2421
Description[?]:
We recognize the ownership of personal firearms as a right of the citizens of the United Kingdoms of Lodamun, but we cannot understand why any private citizen would need to own/use a military-grade weapon. What purpose could this possibly serve? Weapons are tools for hunting and personal self-defense. You don't hunt white-tailed deer with an MP5.
What do the other parties feel about this issue? Our choice would be to allow citizens to only own certain weapons, but be able to take them generally anywhere, unless prohibited by the specific establishment . |

From | Free Lodamun | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | OOC: if i had an mp5 i would probably hunt deer with it. and i don't hunt now.
All the more reason then to give our people the option of military training out of school. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Who messes with the Swiss? No one. Damn right.
OOC: i agree with the NP. private citizens taking action independently of national government to take a territory? that sounds like an awful lot of fun. we need to see where migadon stands on this. NP, want to find out, we cna maybe get this ball rolling. |

From | Democrats | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | ooc: No, but they can keep them at home, and are supposed to practice every now and then (they get them from their national service). |

From | United Republics Party | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | ask telamon what? Let me make it clear that the NP does not have the authority to launch an invasion. From what I've read it requires the Prime Minister and Defense Minister to support it. Everitt Diggory will not support an expansionist invasion. |

From | Free Lodamun | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | OOC: hey yugi, i need you to listen as hard as you can. Its not up to you what we roleplay. If the np wants to talk to telemon and get a mlitia under his control or completely independent of the national government to invade and occupy telamon, that's his business. Its fun. not just for telamon but for us. even for you if you allow it to be.
Also, you're not supposed to respond to OOC speech in character, don't acknowledge that they're even there unless preceded with an OOC of your own. You just responded to my comment about training our population better with some turrets comment about permission to invade telamon.
Try and play the game the rest of us are playing, you'll have fun, I promise. |

From | Radical Nationalist Party | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | OOC: We may not have the Authority YET, its unlikely that you will remain the largest party forever. We can start preparing thing for the future and find out the attitude we are likely to get from Telamon. |

From | Democrats | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | Support. Perhaps it could be mentioned, as an amendment to Article Two, that citizens cannot carry arms onto state property? (ie Schools, Parliament, the Royal Palaces) |

From | Lodamun Distributionist Party | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | As the owner of state property, I suspect that the state would generally make that ruling, yes.
Is it important to add to the proposal itself, or can that be reasonably assumed? |

From | The Unified Lodamun Party | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | So, does this bill get rid of all the weapons that people don't need for hunting?? If that is the case, the ULP fully supports this bill, however if this bill is now allowing anyone to own and carrry any weapon so long as it is visible to the public, well we just are afraid of such a bill. To tell the truth, if someone is carrying a a fully loaded bazooka (sp), I don't wnat to know about it. Granted, if it were a bazooko, I probably would regardless. That notwishtstanidng, the ULP supports the limiting of the types of weapons that are allowed to be owned, and used. |

From | Independent Republican Party | To | Debating the The Prepared Citizenry Act | Message | We support Article One, but can't support Article Two. We would prefer restricting what types of weapons citizens can carry. However, because we believe that if someone is carrying a weapon, others should see it, we will support this bill. |
