Bill: Finance Minister Proposed Budget 2418

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democrats

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2418

Description[?]:

The Finance Minister wishes to set up a debate over the budget for Lodamun, which can be seen here http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/budget.php?nationid=19

We aim to readdress public spending so as to fit in with current legislation, with the overall aim of following NMP policies of instigating tax cuts.

There are two Bills we are looking at which have passed recently which we believe are appropriate for cuts in budget spending, and they are

http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=121351 The New Environment Bill - This reduces government regulations in two areas, which we feel should lead to a cut in environment spending.

http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=121786 - The Utilities Act - State owned energy concerns were privitised by this Bill, therefore we believe a cut in infrastructure spending is appropriate.

With these two recent Bills in mind, we are looking at budget cuts of 250million Lods in the Environment Sector, and 500million Lods in the Infrastructure department, to take into account recent reductions in the states activities, which means we are no longer actually spending in these two areas, and therefore should no longer be allocating money for them.

The cut in spending amounts to 0.57% of the old budget, money which we shall consider putting into a tax cut.

MessageWe see no need for these spending cuts, and if they was to happen we should see the money re-invested. LAst Time I checked we are making a 2 billion dollar profit already so no need for cuts. Tax could be cut without these cuts.

MessageI stand corrected it stands at just under 4 billion now, the NP feel that at least 2 billion more should be invested into the nation.

MessageWe disagree completely. The money we are reducing here was spent on things that we are no longer supposed to be funding, thus they should be cut out from the budget.

MessageOnce new legislation is passed requiring budget increases, then we shall act accordingly, but we feel it would be rash to simply assign new money to existing projects, bearing in mind that they are already budgeted for.

MessageWe may need to consider an increase in defence spending. There are rumblings of dissatisfaction among some of the militias. Nothing concrete yet, we have only heard rumors but there may be something to them. And if it turns out to be nothing, We have that much more ordinance and can cut the military back to normal next budget.

MessageThe URP believes cuts may be necessary in defense unless the NP starts a civil conflict, in which case we'd support an increase to help crush them.
