Bill: Prostitution Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Lodamun

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2421

Description[?]:

Prostitution is probably the oldest profession in the world. It has lasted from the Ancient times until today. Even though we illegalize prostitution, it still is out there. Hell, now while we're talking there is probably a man picking up a prostitute in Port Andalay's Red Line District. It is human instinct. It has been embedded in our mind. It is unstoppable. As it is unstoppable, the CPL believes that the government should take advantage into it. Make prostitution a state monopoly! And we end this statement with the eternal URP quote: "There's profit to be made."

MessageYou're proposing we move from illegal prostitution to establishing a Royal Pimp Ministry? By this same logic, should the State make a profit from selling opium and child pornography? We would like to see prostitution a local issue rather than being illegal, but State intervention goes way too far.

MessageThe arguments provided by the CPL are unsound. Theft, murder, rape etc these are all unstoppable crimes, they happen, as a result of human weakness, however this does not mean the government should either take advantage of it, or decriminalize it.

MessageProstitution is not a crime. The woman is selling herself, and, in some places, the man too. It is a form of trade, if you look at it.

MessageIt is a crime, as it is currently illegal. The mafia is a form of business, if you look at it.

MessageThe mafia kills. Killing is murder.
Prostitution is a form of trade. Is anyone murdered? I think not.

MessageBearing in mind it is a criminal activity, then yes, there are bound to be deaths related to prostitution. Its a criminal acitivity, and it benefits noone by making it a state "industry".

MessageI am pro-legalization, but would rather have the enterprise run by pimps than the government.

MessageWe cannot support this proposal for moral reasons stated clearly above.

However, we move that there still be a ceremonial "Royal Minister of Pimp" position created. Along with this, perhaps we could change the PFP to the "Lodamun Parliament-Funkadelic."

Dig it.
